UIL updates 2020-22 conference cutoff numbers; Grapevine, Timberview going 5A D2

The University Interscholastic League released updated conference and division cutoff numbers and preliminary enrollment figures for the 2020-2022 reclassification and realignment on Tuesday, updating previously released figures from Dec. 3.

New information was brought forward updating numbers previously submitted by schools which has caused conference cutoffs to be revised.

Class 4A and 5A numbers were updated.

December 3

4A: 515-1209

4A D1: 865-1209

4A D2: 515-864

5A: 1210-2219

5A D1: 1900-2219

5A D2: 1210-1899

December 10

4A: 515-1229

4A D1: 880-1229

4A D2: 515-879

5A: 1230-2219

5A D1: 1922-2219

5A D2: 1230-1921

The updates impact the football schools that were on the fence on Dec. 3.

Most notably among the Fort Worth area teams, Cleburne (1,916), Grapevine (1,918) and Mansfield Timberview (1,914) have shifted down to 5A Division 2. Cleburne spent the past two seasons in 5A D2, but appeared to move up during the first release.

However, the Yellow Jackets will remain in 5A D2.

Grapevine and Timberview will make the move down for the first time after spending the past two years in Division 1. Grapevine and Colleyville Heritage will split up for the first time since Heritage was 6A a few years back so the Battle of the Red Rail will come earlier during non-district play.

Timberview is the smallest Mansfield ISD school. The Wolves were in 5A D1 during last week’s release along with Legacy and Summit, but Timberview will now head down as the lone MISD representative.

Realignment is scheduled for Feb. 3, 2020.
