Running back scored five touchdowns but his highlight after the game is what went viral

We take a lot of pride in Texas high school football.

Not only because of the athleticism and dedication it shows us, but also for the sportsmanship it teaches us.

Another great example came this past weekend during a regional playoff game between Bremond and Flatonia in Class 2A Divison II.

Senior running back Jontavious Anthony scored five touchdowns, including the game-winning score in overtime to lead Bremond to a 41-35 win. After scoring the final touchdown, Anthony celebrated with his teammates before running over to the Flatonia sideline to console several dejected Bulldogs’ players. A few were on the ground before getting up to get a hug from Anthony.

“I just saw him down and I felt bad for him because they’re a good football team,” Anthony told KBTX/Ch. 3, a CBS affiliate in Bryan/College Station. “They came out and played hard. I just wanted to congratulate them and to tell them ‘good job’ because they are a good football team and someone is proud. I am.”

The clip from KBTX was picked up by ESPN and has almost 150,000 views on Twitter as of late Tuesday night.
