Rhodes throws all over Carrollton Newman Smith in big win for Grapevine
Grapevine quarterback Cade Rhodes threw for four touchdown passes, two caught by Alex Vergara, and running back Caleb Texada ran for over 100 yards, adding a score of his own, in a 56-7 defeat of Carrollton Newman Smith on Homecoming night in Bedford.
Game was over when: Grapevine scored on their first three possessions of the game in under six minutes of the first quarter.
Play of the game: The choice goes to Roshawn Prear’s 44-yard catch early in the third quarter from Rhodes on a dime dropped to him right in the end zone down the sidelines.
Offensive player of the game: Grapevine quarterback Cade Rhodes threw for four scores, including three in the first half, and totaled over 230 yards passing.
Defensive player of the game: The honor is shared by an entire Grapevine defensive front that allowed under 80 yards rushing by Carrollton Newman Smith.
Unsung hero of the game: The honor goes to Carrollton Newman Smith’s Mario Silva, who had close to 235 yards through the air on punts.
