Fossil Ridge’s Colione Evans ran for 107 yards and scored three touchdowns as the Panthers (4-2, 2-1 District 5-6A) jumped out to a 28-0 lead before running out a 38-21 win over Keller Central (1-5, 1-2).
Colione Evans broke a scoreless tie with two touchdowns in the second quarter on runs covering nine yards and six yards to give Fossil Ridge a 14-0 lead. With 0:52 to play before halftime, Fossil Ridge’s Trumel Isaacs blocked a punt at the Central 23 yard line. DeMarcus Jones recovered the loose ball in the end zone to push the Panthers’ lead to 21-0 at the break.
Game was over when: Fossil Ridge took four minutes off the clock during a 9-play, 65-yard scoring drive to open the second half. Evans finished off the series with a 12-yard touchdown to give the Panthers a 28-0 lead with 4:53 to play in the third quarter.
Play of the game: Keller Central’s Trent Smith connected on a 75-yard touchdown pass to a wide open Jack Hecker one minute into the fourth quarter.

Offensive player of the game: Evans gained his 107 yards on only 15 carries, finishing with a 7.13 average per rushing attempt. His total included a 50 yard run late in the third. Smith led Keller Central with 311 passing yards and three touchdowns.
Defensive player of the game: Fossil Ridge’s Wyatt Rohmer grabbed two interceptions in the first quarter to shut down Keller Central drives.
Big picture outlook: Fossil Ridge takes a step toward a playoff spot after pushing its district record to 2-1. Keller Central has work to do to make the postseason after dropping to 1-2 with a match up against district leader Southlake Carroll still on the schedule.
What’s next? Keller Central is on the road for a match-up at Northwest ISD Stadium against Haslet Eaton. Fossil Ridge will be at Dragon Stadium to take on Southlake Carroll on October 19th at 7:00 P.M.
