Laderrious Mixon rushed for over 300 yards to help Birdville topple Weatherford
Birdville finished with nearly 600 total yards of offense, led by running back Laderrious Mixon’s 300 plus rushing yards and four scores as Birdville defeated Weatherford 56-26, Friday night.
The game, delayed for nearly two hours late in the first half due to lightning, was exactly that on the field, in the terms of offense, as Weatherford held their own as well, finished with over 350 yards of offense themselves.
Mixon’s touchdown runs came from 77, 44, 42 and 67-yards, respective, including two late in the game.
Game was over when: Late in the first half, Birdville scored twice in under a minute and a half, thanks in part to two touchdown catches from Brendton Northey, from 23 and 57-yards, respectively.
Offensive player of the game: Laderrious Mixon, who finished with four total scores, two coming from more than fifty yards, and 333 rushing yards, one of those, a 77-yard run on the game’s first snap.
Special Teams player of the game: Weatherford running back Aneaus Grey finished with over 200 yards of kickoff returns on the night including a 95-yard return for a score before halftime.
Unsung hero of the game: Weatherford quarterback Ken Seals whom valiantly tried to keep his team in the game, threw for 296 yards and three scores on 31 of 47 passes, 12 of which were to wideout Rey Huang, who caught one score and finished his night with 88 yards receiving.
What’s next? Weatherford travels to Fort Worth Southwest, 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 27. Birdville hosts Carrollton R.L. Turner at the Birdville Fine Arts Athletic Complex, 7: 00 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 28.
