Kennedale rushers come up huge against Carrollton Ranchview

Kennedale broke open a fairly close halftime game to pull away from Carrollton Ranchview in a Class 4A Division I bi-district game at Cedar Hill. The Wildcats scored five unanswered touchdowns beginning with a 90-yard kickoff return by Kade Stephenson to open the second half.
Kennedale led 24-14 at halftime. The Wildcats scored on their first play on a 68-yard run off-tackle by D.J. Kirven. The other two Wildcats touchdowns came after turnovers. The first was after the Wolves fumbled away on their 39-yard line. The other touchdown drive came after Ranchview came up a yard short on fourth-and-two at the Kennedale 26.
Kennedale will meet Van in the second round of the playoffs.
Key players: Kirven finished with 187 yards on 15 carries and four touchdowns. Teammate Jorden Knowles had 228 yards on 13 carries and three touchdowns.
Key stat: Kennedale stayed on the ground. The Wildcats did not pass until late in the game and attempted only three times.
