Aledo 72, Wichita Falls Rider 13

Bearcats’ running backs Jase McClellan and Tre Owens combined for 291 rushing yards in a rout of the Raiders in a Class 5A Division II bi-district game Thurdsay at Saginaw Rough Rider Stadium. The Bearcats’ defense added domination by intercepting three passes. Jake McClendon picked off two in the first half for Aledo to help build a 63-6 lead by intermission. In the first possession of the game, Rider opened with a 42-yard pass play but the success was short-lived. McClendon halted the early threat with his first interception. Rider later scored on a 1-yard run by Brandon Bolton to make it 14-6 early. The Raiders started the second half with a Jake Edgemon 87-yard catch and run for a score.

Key players: McClellan was back to full speed, rushing 10 times for 187 yards and four scores, all in the first half. He had seen limited duty due to injury earlier in the season. Owens added 104 yards rushing and a score, in addition to a TD reception from Jake Bishop. The Baercats QB finished his half of play 6-of-7 passing for 158 yards and three scores and added a rushing TD. In second-half relief, JoJo Earle added 116 rushing yards and a score for Aledo. Edgemon finished the game with four catches for 169 yards and a score.

Key stat: Aledo meets Grapevine in the area round at Midlothian ISD Stadium. The Bearcats have won 27 consecutive games.
