Class 6A Allen, 5A Aledo take No. 1 spots in final AP poll
The final Associated Press state high school poll is out, from here on the UIL playoffs will decide who’s No. 1 as six rounds are contested well into December.
The championship games are at AT&T Stadium, Dec. 20-23.
In Class 6A, Allen kept its hold on the No. 1 ranking from preseason to the regular season.
Aledo stayed at No.1 in 5A for the final 10 weeks of the poll, passing Manvel in early September. The Bearcats are the defending 5A Division II champions and have won 26 consecutive games.
Also in 5A, Colleyville Heritage held onto the No. 10 spot for a second consecutive week. The Panthers are on a nine-game win streak and their only loss was in the season opener against Aledo.
None of the ranked teams in any classification go head-to-head in this week’s bi-district round.
In Class 4A, however, No. 2 West Orange-Stark (8-0) meets Brookshire Royal (1-8), No. 3 Argyle (10-0) gets Snyder (2-8), and No. 6 Midlothian Heritage (10-0) plays Lake Worth (2-8).
