Trinity caps a perfect run in district by edging out Marcus

Euless Trinity 21, Flower Mound Marcus 16

Euless Trinity used the running of Courage Keihn and the passing of quarterback Laki Ellis to build a 14-3 lead that held up through three quarters before holding on during the fourth for a hard-earned 21-16 District 5-6A win over Flower Mound Marcus at Marauder Stadium.

Keihn rushed for 61 yards on eight carries on Trinity’s first drive with a one-yard plunge to cap the drive. He then was retired for he evening as the Trojans look ahead to the playoffs.

The final quarter featured two touchdown passes by Marcus’ Xavier Maxwell to Bradley Love and Gage Anderson to push Trinity.

Key players: Euless Trinity’s Ellis was eight of nine passing for 131 yards and no interceptions with one touchdown and 13 yards on two carries on the ground for one touchdown. Marcus’ Maxwell was 17 of 27 passing for 212 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Key stat: Trinity was held to 157 yards rushing while Marcus gained only 66 on the ground.

Records: Trinity 8-2, 7-0 5-6A; Marcus 4-6, 2-5
