Special teams pay big returns for Legacy in win over Red Oak

Mansfield Legacy senior Michael Chin returned a kickoff 81 yards for a touchdown and junior Jalen Catalon ran back a punt 73 yards for a score in the second quarter as the Broncos scored 38 consecutive points after the game was tied at 7-all to pull away for the road victory. Legacy finished as the runner-up in District 10-5A and will host either Crowley or Burleson next week in the bi-district round of the playoffs.

Key players: Broncos junior Ife Adeyl kicked a 26-yard field goal and caught touchdown passes of 10 yards and 17 yards from junior quarterback Cam Clark. Senior running back Grant Johnson gained 68 yards on 11 carries with one touchdown. Junior lineman Enoch Jackson Jr., listed at 6-feet and 270 pounds, dove for a two-yard touchdown.

Key stat: Chin’s long kickoff return early in the second quarter completely turned the momentum in the Broncos’ favor. The touchdown came immediately after Red Oak had tied the game at 7-7.
