Granbury ruins homecoming night for Joshua
Quarterback Kevin Moore led visiting Granbury to a 38-21win over Joshua to spoil the Owls’ homecoming in District 9-5A on Friday night. Moore figured in all but the last of the Pirates’ touchdowns. He rushed and passed for a pair of each.
Key players: Moore was 22-30-1 for 234 yards passing. He rushed for 147 yards on 15 carries. Many of his throws were in the flats for short yardage but first downs to Peter Brown and Zach McCreight.
Key stat: Joshua twice drove deep into Granbury territory only to turn the ball over on interceptions. Down 14-7 in the second quarter, the Owls drove from their one-yard line all the way to the Granbury 34 only to be intercepted by Clayton Kracy near the sideline. His momentum carried him out of bounds at the 17-yard line. In the second instance, they moved from their 34 to Granbury’s 35 before Blake Jones picked them off at the one-yard line and returned it to his 19. Jones also had a 74-yard touchdown catch.
