Powered by senior QB Trey Jones, who led a strong running game, the Scorpions built a 33-13 halftime lead and held the Dragons in check in the second half. South Hills tallied 461 yards in the contest (365 rushing, 96 passing), while holding Seagoville to 265 total yards. The Scorpions rolled up 264 yards in the first half.
Key players: Jones gained 197 yards on the ground, despite limping off the field late in the third quarter. He returned after one play, and finished the game with 96 yards in the air and two TD passes. Scorpions RB Anthony Thompson added 99 yards on the ground.
Key stat: The Dragons scored first on a 53-yard drive to take a 7-0 lead, but three consecutive rushing touchdowns by Anthony Watkins gave the Scorpions a 20-7 advantage in the first quarter – a lead they wouldn’t relinquish.
