Chisholm Trail defender grabs three interceptions in season-opening win

After a slow start, Saginaw Chisholm Trail upended Fort Worth Young Men’s Leadership Academy 19-3 Thursday at Farrington Field.

Key players: The only score in the first half came when Devonte Jones muscled his way up the middle eight yards with 8:52 left for a 6-0 Rangers lead. It came four plays after Jaidon Larry intercepted a pass at the YMLA 41-yard line. Jones rushed 31 times for 172 yards and two touchdowns.

Key stat: Larry intercepted three passes in the first half, two when YMLA drove into Ranger territory. The teams combined for 28 penalties for 251 yards. Twelve were for false starts.

Records: Saginaw Chisholm Trail 1-0, YMLA 0-1.
