College Station scores 30 unanswered, trounces Whitehouse
College Station scored 30 unanswered points to run away with a 51-14 win over Whitehouse in a Class 5A Division II bi-district game in Midlothian. Whitehouse closed within 21-14 with 8:08 left in the third quarter. But College Station, ranked No. 7 in the final Associated Press Class 5A state poll, pulled away to keep a potential meeting with No. 1 Aledo in the state title game alive.
Key players: College Station quarterback Marquez Perez threw for 240 yards and one score, completing 17 of 32 passes, and rushed for 88 yards on 15 carries and two more TDs. Chris Monroe carried 20 times for 75 yards and scored on runs of 4 and 6 yards.
Key stat: Whitehouse had 15 offensive possessions, 10 of which ended in punts, and three were halted with interceptions.
