Richland builds big halftime lead to coast past FW Dunbar

Trae Self completed 13 of 23 passes for 226 yards and touchdowns to three different receivers Saturday to lift Richland to at least a share of the District 8-5A championship with a 52-8 victory over Fort Worth Dunbar. Richland has qualified for the playoffs and will win the district title outright with a victory next week against Colleyville Heritage. Dunbar needs either a win or a Birdville loss next week to earn a playoff berth.

Key players: Richland’s Landon Le, Kenneth Reeves and Rashee Rice caught touchdown passes. Rylee Johnson rushed for 86 yards and two touchdowns. Le finished with 110 yards on four receptions. Richland’s Ja’Cory Ashley, Kyle Itoka and Larry Nixon intercepted Dunbar passes.

Key stat: Dunbar was penalized 10 times for 112 yards, including six personal fouls, in the first half as Richland built a 45-0 lead.
