Cleburne rallies past Granbury

After Granbury took an early 7-0 lead, Cleburne responded by scoring the next 35 points for a commanding lead in the first half, then coasted to a 62-35 defeat of the Pirates in a District 9-5A game Friday at Yellow Jackets Stadium.

Key players: Cleburne running back Isaiah Romero rushed for 118 yards and accounted for five touchdowns. Cleburne linebacker Demarqus McGilveary returned an intreception 76 yards for a score that gave the Yellow Jackets the 35-7 lead. Granbury receiver Kevin Moore hauled in eight catches for 98 yards and two touchdowns and added a three-yard touchdown run.

Key stat: Cleburne rushed for 331 yards on 44 carries for an average of 7.5 yards per carry. The Jackets also overcame 17 penalties for 150 yards.

Records: Cleburne 6-3, 3-3 in 9-5A; Granbury 2-7, 1-5
