Abilene repels Keller Central’s second-half comeback attempt

Keller Central scored twice early in the third quarter to cut its deficit to 31-20, but Abilene responded with two touchdowns to end the quarter on the way to a 52-20 victory Friday in a District 3-6A game in Keller.

Key players: Zion Purvis gained 131 yards rushing on 11 carries, including a 75-yard scoring run, to lead Central. Abilene’s Abram Smith led all rushers with 179 yards on 27 attempts.

Key stats: Abilene kept the ball off the ground, finishing with no turnovers and only four incomplete passes in 23 attempts. Keller Central committed three turnovers, all coming from inside Abilene territory.

Records: Abilene 6-1, 3-0 3-6A; Keller Central 2-4, 1-1
