QB’s five TD passes help Northwest scuttle Saginaw

Justin Northwest quarterback Prince Mavula passed for 308 yards and five touchdowns Friday as the Texans defeated Saginaw 49-10 in a District 6-5A game at Northwest ISD Stadium.

Key players: Northwest receiver Gavin Holmes finished with 125 yards receiving and a touchdown, and returned a kickoff for a touchdown, while teammate Carson Hickman caught two TD passes. Saginaw defensive back Isaiah Singh had an interception for a touch back to halt a Texans scoring drive.

Key stats: Saginaw’s Clint Smith and Northwest’s Gavin Holmes exchanged 95- yard kick off returns for touchdowns on back to back plays in the second quarter. Northwest running back Syrus Moore rushed for 152 yards and and a touchdown. .
