One of the best running backs in the state is joining Bob Stoops in Norman.

Mansfield’s Kennedy Brooks announced on Twitter Monday his commitment to play for the Oklahoma Sooners.

Brooks, a 4-star recruit on 247Sports, burst onto the football scene last season where he rushed for over 3,500 yards and 43 TDs. This coming after 1,200 yards and 14 TDs in 2014 as a sophomore.

What’s more amazing is Brooks started last year’s season opener with just 31 yards rushing against Flower Mound Marcus - then finished the season with 14-consecutive 100-yard games. At one point he had 200 or more yards in nine-straight games - 10 total for the season.

Those numbers in 2015 helped the Tigers to their best season in school history when they were one game away from the state title game at NRG Stadium in Houston.

In 2016, Brooks is off to a great start with 200 or more yards rushing in four of five games, with his lowest output at a modest 185.

He leads all area teams with 1,199 yards and 15 TDs.

In the past 19 games, Brooks has rushed for 4,709 yards and 58 TDs (247.8 yards and 3.1 TDs per game).
