Hebron races to early lead, tops Trophy Club Byron Nelson
QB Clayton Tune’s 45-yard td run with 2:08 left sealed Hebron’s 41-20 win over Trophy Club Byron Nelson, in the district opener for both schools, Hebron led 27-6 at half. But Bryson Davis scored once from 15 yards out in the 3rd quarter and again in the on a two-yard run in the 4th to cut the Hawks lead to 27-20 with 7:26 left in the game. Tune’s run made it 34-20. Hebron scored again after an interception.
Key players: Byron Nelson’s Pascal Mondombo caught six passes for 116 yards, four for 99 in the first half. Bryson Davis ran for 98 yards and two TD’s for the Bobcats.
Key stat: Four interceptions for Hebron helped hold off the Bobcats. Jalen Slater’s 53-yard return to the Nelson two, set up the final touchdown on a two-yard run by Evan Powell, his second of the night.
