Passing game, defense help Richland rip Fort Worth Eastern Hills

Pass-happy Richland stayed unbeaten with a tenacious defense and quick strikes to the end zone in to a 57-13 rout of Fort Worth Eastern Hills in a District 8-5A opener at Scarborough-Handley Field.

Key players: Richland quarterback Trae Self was 14 of 23 for 244 yards and four touchdowns in the first half. Three touchdown tosses were to Landon Le (4-75) in that span. Teammate Rashee Rice caught four passes for 103 yards also before intermission.

Key stats: Eastern Hills was held for 14 yards and one first down of offense in the first half. The Highlanders also committed 15 infractions for 98 yards before intermission.

Records: Richland 4-0, 1-0 8-5A; Eastern Hills 2-2, 0-1.
