Southlake Carroll takes advantage of turnovers to knock off Flower Mound

Audricke Gaines rushed for 141 yards and two touchdowns, including a 7-yarder in the third quarter, as Southlake Carroll rolled over Flower Mound, 42-7, in the District 5-6A opener at Neal E. Wilson Stadium.

Key players: Luke Jeter’s fumble recovery at the Flower Mound 37 led to a 1-yard touchdown run by Tre Sledge, and quarterback Mason Holmes added a 3-yard scoring run on Carroll’s next possession as the visitors built their final margin with 2:36 left in the third quarter.

Ket stats: Carroll capitalized on four turnovers -- three first-half interceptions and a fumble -- and overcame 136 yards in penalties.
