Keller Timber Creek beats Mansfield as pitcher delivers on promise

Seven hours prior to Game 2 with her team trailing in the series, Keller Timber Creek pitcher Kylee Foster posted on Twitter, “I promise you tonight is not my last high school game.”

The senior (21-9) delivered with a four-hit complete-game victory as the visiting Falcons defeated Mansfield 4-1 to even their Class 6A Region I quarterfinal series at a game apiece. Game 3 is 2 p.m. Saturday at Coppell.

Caitlyn Curlee singled in Avery Grimes, and Matti Davis scored on a pass ball to give Timber Creek (24-9) a 2-0 lead in the first inning. Casey Akers made it 4-0 with a two-run double in the fourth.

Sarah Reinke singled in the lone run for the Tigers (26-7).

In other regional quarterfinals:

Plano West 4, Keller 0

The Wolves (29-3) forced Game 3 against the Indians (26-7) behind a two-hit shutout from Sierra Lange. Game 3 is at noon Saturday at Prosper.

Lange struck out nine and didn’t allow a hit until the top of the fourth, when Amanda Desario singled to left and took second on a late throw from the outfield. Desario, however, was stranded at third.

Plano West got two in the bottom of the first on a two-RBI single from Kalina Sato and two more in the fifth.

Burleson Centennial 19, Burleson 0

The Spartans (29-3) swept their 5A Region I series with the rival Elks (16-14) by scoring 17 runs in the first two innings.

Centennial sent 11 batters to the plate in a seven-run first inning. Bailey White, Sam Pettijohn and Sydney Friend each had RBI singles in the frame.

The Spartans tacked on 10 in the second inning, highlighted by a three-run home run to left field by Eva Scott to make it 17-0. Scott also had an RBI double earlier in the inning.

It will be the first appearance in the regional semifinals for Centennial, which will face the winner of Canyon and Canutillo.

Kyleigh Rich, Emory Smith and Lauren Isbell got hits for Burleson.

Aledo 2, Birdville 0

Pitcher Hannah Andrews improved to 15-9 as the defending 5A state champion Bearcats (21-11) evened the 5A Region I series with the Hawks (23-10).

Aledo scored on a passed ball in the third, and Bailee Whitener doubled in the second run in the bottom of the fourth. Losing pitcher Grace Green (12-4) allowed one earned run and struck out six in six innings.

Game 3 is at 2 p.m. Saturday at Haslet Eaton.

Mansfield Legacy 18, Sulphur Springs 1

After falling 8-2 in Game 2 early Friday, the Broncos responded by winning the decisive Game 3 in five innings.

Legacy (28-5) will play Frisco, a winner over Frisco Wakeland, in the 5A Region II semifinals.

The Broncos brought 14 batters to the plate in a nine-run fourth inning, getting three RBIs from Courtney Taylor, a two-run double from Ta’Lyn Moody and RBIs from Erin Keating and Sophie Hannabas.

Freshman Jaycee Cook (6-2) allowed five hits in a complete game.

Brittany Munoz hit a home run for Legacy in Game 2. The school’s all-time home run leader, senior Reagan Wright, was intentionally walked 13 times in the series.

Kennedale 7, Stephenville 0

Pitcher Megan Calhoun, the hero in Game 1, allowed one hit in six innings as the Wildcats (19-16) swept their 4A Region I series.

Calhoun had pitched all nine innings and hit the walk-off home run Thursday in Kennedale’s 4-3 Game 1 win.

Elizabeth Schiele had a home run and three RBIs, and Mary Grace Howard had two triples and three RBIs for Kennedale on Friday.

The Wildcats play the winner of the Snyder-Pampa series in the regional semifinals.

Brock 12, Palmer 1

Cara Tolar threw a one-hitter with seven strikeouts in five innings as the Eagles (31-3) took Game 1 of a 3A Region II series at North Crowley.

The Eagles scored six times in the second. Lauren Lightfoot and Bailey Wagner had RBI double,s and Ashtyn McAda had an RBI triple. Brock scored five more runs in the third inning.

Game 2 will be 2 p.m. Saturday at North Crowley.
