Nolan Catholic picks coach from San Antonio for football program
Nolan Catholic selected David Beaudin as its new head football coach, and Matt Cook as the school’s new athletic director.
Beaudin comes from St. Mary’s Hall in San Antonio where he led the Barons to a 27-9 record the past four seasons in the Southwest Preparatory Conference. Beaudin replaces Joe Prud’homme, who in February was hired to build the new football program at Texas Wesleyan.
There is a strong foundation set forth by Coach Prud’homme and the administration at Nolan Catholic and I am eager to roll up my sleeves and get to work.

Beaudin was selected to coach in the Texas Private School All-Star game in Houston in 2013, the U.S. Army All-American Bowl in 2015.
“There is a strong foundation set forth by Coach Prud’homme and the administration at Nolan Catholic and I am eager to roll up my sleeves and get to work in order to continue to build a winning program in every facet,” Beaudin said in a prepared statement.
Nolan won TAPPS Division I football state titles from 2011-13, and seven since 2004. But the Vikings ended a 15-year playoff run in 2014 when the team went 3-7. Last year’s playoff team finished 5-7.
I have a lot of history with Nolan. I started coaching there. This was an easy decision on my part.
New Nolan Catholic athletic director Matt Cook
Cook, a 1992 Nolan graduate, served as an assistant coach at Nolan the past year. He was Fort Worth Paschal’s head football coach and campus athletic coordinator from 2008 to 2014, and led the football program at Fort Worth All Saints from 2000 to 2006.
“I have a lot of history with Nolan. I started coaching there,” Cook said. “This was an easy decision on my part. I’m pleased and extremely happy to give back some of the things I have received.
“David Beaudin is energetic, young, and has a fantastic football mind. We are going to support him in all manner we can. He’s going to be a great one.”
Cook replaces Steve Prud’homme who has served as Nolan AD for 19 years, and will begin his new position as TAPPS Associate Director for 2016-17.
