Killeen Shoemaker coach Channon Hall headed to Mansfield Summit
Killeen Shoemaker head football coach and athletic coordinator Channon Hall confirmed Thursday to the Killeen Daily Herald that he had accepted the head coaching job at Mansfield Summit, pending approval from Mansfield school trustees.
He replaces Travis Pride, who went to Trophy Club Nelson last month.
Hall spent the past five years at Shoemaker and was 21-12 in the past three. He took over a program that had lost 22 straight games and turned it around, going to three straight playoffs and winning the first bi-district championship in school history last season. Shoemaker went a program-best 9-3 in 2015.
Pride spent seven years at Summit. The Jaguars went 10-2 in 2015, and ended the regular season No. 8 in The Associated Press Class 5A state poll.
The Jaguars’ only losses came to 5A state runner up and 14-5A champ Mansfield Lake Ridge and 15-5A champ Longview in the postseason.
Mansfield ISD also has to fill the head coach position at Mansfield High. Jeff Hulme left for the head coaching job at Waco Midway.
