Standout Southlake Carroll wide receiver chooses Big Ten school over TCU
Southlake Carroll standout wide receiver Brody Knowles was one of TCU’s priorities during this recruiting cycle.
The Dragons’ senior three-star pass catcher, however, ended up choosing Big Ten Conference’s Illinois over the hometown Horned Frogs, announcing his commitment Monday. He also considered Arkansas in his top three.
Knowles is expected to have an area leading season in what has historically been one of the Fort Worth-area’s most pass heavy offenses.
While sharing touches with the Dragons’ all time receiving yards leader Brock Boyd, now at Ohio State, Knowles thrived as a lengthy deep threat, using his speed and 6-foot-5 frame to haul in 816 yards and 7 touchdowns on 36 catches. He helped lead Carroll to a Class 6A Division II state semifinal.
In 2024, Knowles had a breakout sophomore campaign with 544 yards on 39 receptions. He is rated as 247Sports’ No. 104 player in Texas.
His father, Mark Knowles, is a former professional tennis player and previously ranked No. 1 in doubles worldwide. His brother, Graham Knowles, is a former Carroll quarterback and current sophomore at Georgia Tech. He is expected to compete for the Yellow Jackets’ starting spot.
