A plane set to pick up 10-time MLB All-Star Yadier Molina and his family crashed Sunday, killing the pilot and the co-pilot, Molina revealed in a now-expired Instagram story.

La Romana International Airport in the Dominican Republic said in a statement that the accident occurred at the airport and that the pilots, who were both Americans, were headed to Austin, Texas.

Molina was in Round Rock on Saturday to watch his son play for Austin Lake Travis in the UIL Texas high school baseball state championships. Keller defeated Lake Travis 2-1 in the Class 6A Division I title game.

“My condolences to the pilots and their families,” Molina wrote in the Instagram story. “This plane was on its way to pick up me, my family, and friends in Texas to return to Puerto Rico. This is all so heartbreaking.”

The plane had just taken off when it experienced problems and returned to attempt an emergency landing, according to People. Pilot Erick Javier Diago and co-pilot Ruddy Ghazal were killed, the airport said.
