State semifinal softball: Aledo stuns nationally ranked Melissa, advances
Aledo wasn’t favored against nationally ranked Melissa, but it didn’t seem to bother the Bearcats much.
After falling to Melissa 15-4 in the 2025 state semifinals, Aledo struck back in the rematch with a vengeance, taking a 5-4 victory against Melissa in a one-game, winner-take-all Class 5A Division I state semifinal Wednesday at Denton High School.
Aledo’s Brooklyn Taloa hit a go-ahead home run in the sixth inning and starting pitcher Tempe Perry thrived in a complete game against one of the nation’s best offenses, conceding no earned runs as Aledo’s ended Melissa’s 28 game win streak.
