For the first time in program history, White Settlement Brewer softball is heading to the state semifinals.

Brewer beat Wylie 11-7 in game three of a Class 5A Division II regional final series to advance. The Bears will face Hallsville at a time and place that is to be determined.

Wylie led 6-5 in the third inning after the Pirate offense put up five runs in one frame. But Brewer retaliated quickly with three runs in the fourth inning. The Bears (25-9) pulled away in the sixth inning with back-to-back home runs from Kemren Pride and Cozette Tyson.

Both Tyson and Pride had two home runs in the contest, and Haylie Jimenez also hit a home run. Ava Pena set the tone with four hits in the leadoff spot.
