Aledo rolls past Amarillo

Aledo, the reigning Class 5A Division I state champion, took one step closer toward the first championship repeat in program history.

The Bearcats (34-3) took down Amarillo 8-1 in game one of a regional semifinal series at Abilene Christian University. Eight Bearcats tallied a hit, and four errors from Amarillo’s defense helped Aledo build a solid lead.

Five Aledo athletes registered multi-hit games: Landon Barnes, Dylan Duran, Wilson Sehnem, Jackson Loos and Kyle Poindexter.

LSU pledge Lucas Nawrocki started for Aledo, allowing no earned runs and five hits while striking out eight batters in four innings. Garrett Love took over, allowing no hits in three innings of dominance.

Euless Trinity continues roll, downs Hebron

Euless Trinity’s offense was dominant in a 10-4 victory over Hebron (27-7-2) in game one of a Class 6A Division I regional semifinal series at Trinity High School.

The Trojans (25-9-2) scored six runs in the first frame, setting the tone for the victory. Leading the way offensively was Rylan Alaniz, who went 3 for 3 with a home run and a walk.

John Emory was also a key player, going 3 for 3 with one RBI and a walk. The Trojans tallied 12 hits as a team.

On the mound, Brayden Bowers tossed a complete game, conceding seven hits and four earned runs.

Birdville takes game one over El Paso Americas

Birdville trailed 3-2 against El Paso Americas in game one of a Class 5A Division I regional semifinal series when it found a groove in the fifth inning.

Birdville’s Chase Reaves hit a three-run, go-ahead double, and the Hawks took a lead that they maintained the rest of the way at Permian High School. Three Birdville athletes registered two hits in the contest: Reaves, Carsen Blake and Grady Shannon.

Birdville (25-12-2) relied on two pitchers to keep Americas at bay. Matthew Moore started the game and did not allow a hit in three innings. He struggled a bit with control, walking five batters and allowing an earned run.

Connor Malvik took over on the mound in the fourth inning and kept Americas (25-9-1) scoreless, surrendering four hits and striking out five batters.

Keller drops game one to Flower Mound

Keller scored three runs in the fifth inning to make it a one run ballgame in game one of a Class 6A Division I regional semifinal series at Coppell Sports Complex. But the Indians could not continue to offensive spree as Flower Mound maintained its 7-6 lead the rest of the way.

Keller (33-3-2) surrendered three runs in the first inning and two runs in both the second and third innings. Starting pitcher Logan Brown allowed three earned runs on three hits and three walks.

Multiple defensive errors contributed to Keller’s early struggles, and the team had five total in the game.

Offensively, Maddox McCrary played a big role for Keller, as he tallied two hits and two RBIs. He hit a triple that scored two runs in the fifth inning. Cole Koeninger, a Tennessee pledge, hit a home run in the third inning.
