Fort Worth Dunbar’s Cayden Brooks wins long jump title

Fort Worth Dunbar senior Cayden Brooks thrived in the Class 4A long jump, winning the state championship.

After posting a 22-2.25 mark in his second attempt, his fifth jump made him a champion. He recorded a 23-10.5 mark, beating second-place finisher Jeremiah Caldwell of Taylor (22-10).

Brooks also made the podium in the triple jump, taking second place.

Decatur’s Keaton Goode podiums in shot put

Decatur senior Keaton Goode took second place in the boys Class 4A shot put with a 60-4.75 mark. Kolton Dearth of Stephenville High School won the state championship (61-2.50). Goode was in the lead until Dearth’s final attempt.
