Standout Duncanville quarterback Bryson Kennedy was ruled ineligible to play in the 2026 Texas high school football season, according to the Dallas Morning News.

Kennedy, a class of 2029 recruit, has offers from Arkansas, Auburn, Missouri and more entering his sophomore season. He played for Central High School in Little Rock, Arkansas, as a freshman, and according to 247Sports, he transferred to Duncanville in February.

Kennedy’s father posted an email informing him that the transfer was for athletic purposes in a now-deleted Facebook post, the Morning News said. He also posted a clip of his son on a podcast saying he transferred to Duncanville because “the opportunity was better for me as a player.”

The post also stated that the UIL shared the video with what appears to be the District Executive Committee that oversees Duncanville’s district. The post also stated that text message evidence was obtained, which further solidified that the move was for athletic purposes.

Last season, Duncanville (12-2) reached the Class 6A Division I state championship game, falling 10-7 to Houston North Shore.

Following the 2026 UIL realignment, Duncanville will be in the same district (11-6A) as Fort Worth-area power North Crowley, along with Crowley, Mansfield and Mansfield Lake Ridge.
