Introducing the 2025-26 Star-Telegram Fort Worth-area Boys Soccer Coach of the Year: Fort Worth Wyatt’s Raphael Avalos.

Avalos led the Wyatt Chaparrals (17-8-1, 8-4 District 7-5A) to the Class 5A Division II regional finals after a fourth-place finish in district.

District 7-5A made a case to be among the best in Dallas-Fort Worth; Fort Worth Trimble Tech also made a deep run, reaching the regional semifinals, and Fort Worth Paschal made it to the area round.

Wyatt’s playoff run was extraordinarily chaotic. The Chaparrals took out Mansfield Summit 7-3 in the bi-district round, scoring four goals in overtime. They defeated Grapevine 2-1 in overtime and followed it up by taking down Hanks in a shootout.

Wyatt fell 1-0 in overtime to Burgess in the regional final, ending a stunning playoff run.

Editor’s note: Individual awards, such as player of the year, will be released Tuesday. The 2025-26 Star-Telegram Fort Worth-area Boys Soccer All-Area Team will be revealed Wednesday.
