Burleson Centennial’s Heather McMahan named Girls Soccer Coach of the Year
Introducing the 2025-26 Star-Telegram Fort Worth-area Girls Soccer Coach of the Year: Burleson Centennial’s Heather McMahan.
The Centennial Spartans made the furthest run in Burleson ISD’s history, appearing in the Class 5A Division I state semifinals. They fell 2-0 to Prosper Walnut Grove; in the state championship, the Wildcats lost 1-0 to Smithson Valley in overtime.
Before its playoff run, Centennial (19-2-4, 11-0-3 District 8-5A) won a district title without losing a game. During the season, the Spartans thrived on strong team defense, allowing 18 goals.
Senior defender Mardie Frye was named a TASCO Class 6A Honorable Mention All-State selection, and midfielder Claire Gambrell earned district MVP honors along with making the All-Region First Team.
Centennial picked up a regular-season win over local power Aledo and playoff wins over top contenders such as Birdville and Colleyville Heritage. In the playoffs, Centennial also defeated Arlington Heights and Tascosa.
