UIL boys golf state tournament results: Aledo, Southlake Carroll lead area

The UIL Texas high school boys golf state tournaments wrapped up Tuesday.

Each classification played at a different location. Class 6A’s tournament took place at White Bluff Resort in Whitney, Class 5A was at Legacy Hills Golf Club in Georgetown and Class 4A was at Legends Golf Course in Kingsland.

Southlake Carroll leads local squads in Class 6A

Southlake Carroll was the sole Fort Worth-area school to place in the top 10 in the Class 6A overall team standings. The Dragons shot 36-over par, tying for sixth place. Senior Preston Mohon led the team, finishing at 2-over to tie for 11th place as an individual.

Teammate Colton Hubbard followed closely behind, shooting 4-over and finishing tied for 17th as an individual. Sophomore Kaden Barber also had a strong showing, tying for 40th.

Carroll’s Andrea Birolini and Ayden Patel rounded out the team’s performance, placing 55th and 62nd, respectively.

Mansfield freshman Daxton Galyean had a great outing, shooting 6-over to tie for 24th. Keller’s Gable Roach tied for 63rd.

Austin Westlake won the state championship at 2-over.

Aledo golfer places fourth as individual

Although no Fort Worth-area schools placed in the top 10 in the Class 5A team standings, a few individuals stood out.

Aledo’s Braden Stokes shot 2-under, tying with three other competitors in fourth place.

Burleson Centennial’s Brooks Keen also had a solid outing, shooting 7-over to tie for 34th.

Prosper Walnut Grove won the Class 5A state championship, shooting 1-under as a team. Senior Austin Randall led the way, claiming the individual title at 7-under.

Highland Park sent two teams to the tournament and finished in second and third.

Godley thrives in Class 4A

Godley was the only Fort Worth-area squad to participate in the Class 4A tournament and placed 10th.

Jaxon Hill tied for 44th to lead the Wildcats, while teammates Dylan Mourning, Austin Merritt and Tripp Karnes followed closely behind.

Lubbock-Cooper Liberty claimed the 4A team championship, and Lorena’s Chase Horn won the individual title.
