The UIL Texas high school baseball regular season is coming to a close, and several Fort Worth-area teams have the potential to make some noise.

Here are the scenarios and teams to watch:

Grapevine aims for history out of District 6-5A

Grapevine has cruised through the regular season with a 26-3 overall and 12-0 District 6-5A record.

Now, the Mustangs await a historic opportunity: Becoming the first UIL baseball team to win three consecutive state championships. The only program in any classification to do it was Brenham from 1986 to 1988 in Class 4A, according to UIL archives.

Grapevine, with an offense averaging 8 runs per contest, will enter the Class 5A Division II bracket. Keep an eye on standouts Jorvorskie Lane Jr, a potential MLB draft prospect and an Arkansas pledge, and junior Luke Esquivel, an LSU pledge and the 2025 Star-Telegram Player of the Year.

Another District 6-5A squad to watch is Birdville. The Hawks have built a sneaky strong resume, with their only district losses coming to reigning champion Grapevine. Birdville also has two wins over Euless Trinity, a promising Class 6A squad.

Keller stands tall in District 4-6A

Keller (28-2-2, 14-1 District 4-6A) has clinched the district title in a competitive group.

The Indians are led by two-way Tennessee pledge Cole Koeninger, the No. 2 class of 2026 prospect in Texas. They have strong potential in Class 6A, boasting a No. 1 ranking in Texas and No. 17 nationwide by MaxPreps.

It’s still up in the air which division Keller heads to with Southlake Carroll and Timber Creek battling for the last playoff spot. If Timber Creek makes it, Keller will head to the small school bracket.

If Timber Creek loses to Northwest on Friday, a surging Southlake Carroll squad on a five-game win streak will clinch a playoff spot. If Timber Creek wins, the two teams will have a play-in game Saturday.

Euless Trinity (19-8-2, 11-4) and Byron Nelson (24-6-1, 10-5) have also had strong seasons.

Aledo eyes repeat in final 5A run

Aledo (27-3, 11-0 District 5-5A) has an opportunity to seize a championship repeat for the first time in program history.

The Bearcats will enter the Class 5A Division I bracket — it’ll be the last time the school competes in Class 5A for the foreseeable future before heading to the UIL’s largest classification. Aledo turned in a Class 6A enrollment, and will compete in the newly formed District 3-6A against schools like Weatherford, current district foe Granbury, Arlington and Arlington Martin.

Keep an eye on LSU pledge Lucas Nawrocki, the 2025 Star-Telegram Offensive Player of the Year. He is shouldering a lot of responsibility for Aledo as a standout two-way performer.

Four competitive teams in District 3-6A

District 3-6A is an absolute war at the top, with Mansfield Lake Ridge, Boswell and Mansfield all having 8-3 district records. Mansfield Legacy is just behind at 8-4.

Boswell faces Lake Ridge on Friday in a game that could decide the District 3-6A championship. All four squads have clinched a spot in the playoffs.

Boswell and Mansfield Legacy will head to the small school bracket, while Lake Ridge and Mansfield will enter the large school group.

Burleson Centennial a threat from District 8-5A

Burleson Centennial (19-8, 12-1 District 8-5A) has had a stellar regular-season run, clinching a district title.

It’s been a strong bounce-back season for the Spartans after missing the playoffs in 2025. They’ll head to the Class 5A Division I bracket. They’ve been effective against high quality competition with a win over Aledo and being competitive against Mansfield Legacy.

Centennial defeated Mansfield Timberview 14-0 Tuesday.

Paschal, Arlington Heights to clash

District rivals Fort Worth Paschal and Fort Worth Arlington Heights will face off with the District 7-5A championship on the line at Goldstein Field on Saturday. First pitch is slated for 1 p.m.

The Panthers and Yellow Jackets split the season series, with Paschal taking the first game 10-3 and Heights taking a 3-2 win in the second. Both schools will enter the Class 5A Division I bracket regardless of the game’s outcome.

The series is a continuation of the Battle of the Bonfire rivalry, one of the most prominent rivalries in Dallas-Fort Worth.

Benbrook, Brock, Springtown forces in Class 4A

Brock (21-3, 9-0 District 6-4A) is once again in position to make a deep run after making the state tournament in three of five seasons.

Another school with strong potential is Springtown (19-5-2, 11-0 District 7-4A), a squad that has thrived against solid competition like Eagle Mountain and Decatur.

Fort Worth Benbrook (18-9-1, 10-0 District 8-4A) has been on quite the run, too. The Bobcats made the regional finals in 2024 and fell to Brock in the area round in 2025.
