Grace Prep’s late barrage keys win over Grace Community
Arlington Grace Prep blew open a close game with 9 runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to give the Lions an 11-1, 6-inning, run-rule victory over Tyler Grace Community in a TAPPS Division II District 2 contest on Tuesday.
Grace Prep (19-5-1 overall, 9-0 district) spotted Grace Community (10-10, 4-6) a run in the top of the first on a 2-out single by N Bigbie. But that was all that Grace Prep starter Heath Speck would allow the rest of the way.
Speck completed 6 innings allowing the 1 earned run, scattering 3 hits with 8 strikeouts and 2 walks. Bear Graves led the Lions at the plate going 3 for 4 including an RBI single to left in the fourth inning that tied the game 1-1.
Graves singled in a run in the sixth and Speck drew the first of three consecutive bases-loaded walks in the inning.
