The UIL Texas high school girls soccer state finals are here, and two Fort Worth-area teams are set to play: Keller and Grapevine.

Keller aims for title in first appearance

Keller (22-4-1) will face Round Rock (21-2-4) at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Class 6A Division I state championship at Birkelbach Field in Georgetown. It will be Keller ISD’s first girls or boys soccer state title game appearance; Keller made one other state tournament in the 2017 season.

Keller advanced to the final with a 2-1 overtime victory over Sachse on Thursday, extending its win streak to nine games. Throughout the Indians’ playoff run, they have also defeated Mansfield (6-0), Permian (1-1, advanced on penalty kicks), Plano East (3-2) and Coppell (2-1).

On the season, Keller has scored 73 goals while conceding 25. The Indians are led by head coach Jeff Simpson, who is in his second year at the helm.

Round Rock will also make its first title game appearance Saturday. To reach the state final, the Dragons defeated Austin Westlake (4-0), San Antonio Reagan (1-0), Cibolo Steele (4-1), Lake Travis (3-1) and Houston Summer Creek (2-1).

Grapevine aims for second title

In 2023, Grapevine stood tall as the Class 5A state champion. Now, the ‘Stangs (18-5-6) are back in the mix and are set to face Montgomery Lake Creek (17-6-2) in the Class 5A Division II state championship at 4 p.m. Friday at Birkelbach Field.

Grapevine has had dominant run with nine state tournament appearances in the past 12 seasons. Although the Mustangs didn’t make a title game in 2024 or 2025, Colleyville Heritage did. With Grapevine’s appearance Friday, Grapevine-Colleyville ISD will be represented in five consecutive girls soccer state finals.

To reach Georgetown, Grapevine has defeated Granbury (3-0), Joshua (1-0), Whichita Falls Memorial (1-0), Argyle (1-0) and Frisco Wakeland (1-0). The Mustangs haven’t exploded for goals throughout the playoffs, but defensively, they’ve been stout, conceding zero goals.

The most impressive win came in the state semifinals against previously undefeated Wakeland, a program that has four state titles since the 2011 season.
