Arlington Heights scores early, holds off Paschal
Fort Worth Arlington Heights scored 3 times in the bottom of the second inning and made it hold up as the Yellow Jackets slipped past Fort Worth Paschal 3-2 in a District 7-5A game on Friday at Arlington Heights High School.
Arlngton Heights (8-10-2 overall, 5-1 district) moved into a tie for first place in district with the win. Ben Harris singled with one out in the third and Adrian Tristan followed with a walk.
With two outs in the third, Jayden Lee tripled to center to score Harris and Tristan. Lee scored shortly after on a wild pitch to make it 3-0 Heights.
Paschal (16-3, 5-1) rallied in the top of the fourth when Simon Pate drilled a hard grounder past second to score John McInnis, running for Griffin Lee who had singled, and Sebastian Piria who had doubled cutting the lead to 3-2.
Roy Perez went the distance for Arlington Heights scattering 4 hits and allowing 2 runs, both earned, with 7 strikeouts and 1 walk. Owen Settle pitched well for the Panthers allowing only 3 hits and 3 earned runs while striking out 13 and walking 1.
Keller stays atop 4-6A, rallies past Southlake Carroll
Keller scored 7 runs in the top of the seventh inning then held off a Southlake Carroll rally as the Indians escaped with a 9-8 win over the Dragons in a District 4-6A contest on Friday at Carroll High School.
Keller (21-1-2 overall, 5-0 district) trailed 4-2 heading to the top of the seventh after Carroll (5-16, 1-4) had scored 4 times in the bottom of the sixth. The Indians scored all 7 runs with 2 outs in the inning with the big blow being a bases clearing double to center by B Davis that gave Keller a 7-4 lead.
Carroll wasn’t done, however, as the Dragons scored 4 times in the bottom of the seventh to cut the lead to 9-8. With the bases full of Dragons, Keller got the final out on a fly ball to left.
C Koeninger went 3 for 5 at the plate with a pair of doubles for Keller and Davis doubled in 3 at bats, driving in 3 and scoring twice. M Heredia had 3 hits in 4 trips with a triple for Carroll and S Arterburn went 2 for 4 with 2 rbi and a run scored.
