Fort Worth-area coach named assistant director of player personnel at Big 12 program
Another Fort Worth-area coach is heading to the college ranks.
North Crowley tight ends coach Price Burton told the Star-Telegram he accepted a role as Iowa State’s assistant director of player personnel. He has experience at the FBS level with player personnel experience at Akron and Toledo, where he spent over a decade as a member of the recruiting team who also assisted with scouting and roster management.
With North Crowley, he was a member of Ray Gates’ staff for three seasons, helping guide the Panthers to a 2024 Class 6A Division I state championship. He coached and developed class of 2027 three-star tight end Jeramie Cooper, who has offers from Baylor, Kansas State, Oklahoma, TCU, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, SMU, and more.
The move continues the movement of Texas high school football coaches departing for the college scene. Gates is now a special assistant to North Texas head coach Neal Brown and a defensive line coach, while former Southlake Carroll head coach Riley Dodge is now a tight ends coach and passing game coordinator at SMU.
