Byron Nelson gets first district win, shuts out Trinity
Aiden Saraceno tossed 5 2/3 innings of five-hit ball as Trophy Club Byron Nelson picked up its first District 4-6A win of the season with a 3-0 blanking of Euless Trinity on Tuesday at Byron Nelson High School.
Lane Furr led the Bobcats with a 2 for 4 performance at the plate, scoring a run, as Byron Nelson (17-2-1 overall, 1-1 district) scored single runs in the first, third and fifth innings.
Ethan Reitz threw 6 innings for the Trojans, scattering 9 hits and allowing 3 runs, 2 earned, with 4 strikeouts and 2 walks. Trinity (11-7-2, 4-2) edged the Bobcats 7-6 on Saturday.
Legacy blasts Boswell in battle of 3-6A leaders
Mansfield Legacy scored 3 times in the first inning and 4 times in the fourth to help the Broncos secure a 10-3 win over Fort Worth Boswell in a District 3-6A tilt on Tuesday at Legacy High School.
Legacy (17-5 overall, 4-1 district) only had 5 hits, all singles, in the game, but benefitted from 10 walks and 3 hit batters by Pioneer pitching. Eli Dugan led the way for the Broncos going 2 for 4 with 3 runs scored..
Grant Petersen also scored 3 times for Legacy. Corbin McDaniel got the win on the mound for the Broncos tossing 5 innings in relief scattering 3 hits and allowing 3 unearned runs while striking out 6 and walking 2.
Boswell (13-4-3, 4-1) will look to rebound on Friday when the Pioneers host Legacy.
