The UIL state swim and dive meets wrapped up on Saturday. Here are the top performers from the Fort Worth-area.

Class 6A boys: Carroll finishes third

With 121 points, Southlake Carroll’s boys team made the podium in Class 6A. Houston Strake Jesuit (135) took second while Flower Mound Marcus (148) won the overall state championship.

The highlight of the meet for the Dragons was a second place finish from their 400-meter freestyle relay in 3 minutes, 3.12 seconds.

Keller boys, a squad that won the last three state titles, did not place in the top 10. The Indians’ top performance came from Maxwell Stanislaus, who recorded a 1:35.26 mark to take second in the 200 freestyle.

Mansfield Lake Ridge also made some noise with Lukas Avitia taking second place (4:27.10) in the 500 freestyle.

Class 6A girls: Keller seizes second

The Keller girls notched 177.5 points, which earned them a second place overall finish in Class 6A. Conroe The Woodlands took home the overall state title with 212.5 points, and San Antonio Reagan was third (130).

Keller was powered by Natalie Schneider, who took first place in the 50 freestyle (22.99) and tied for second in the 100 freestyle (50.74).

Ella McWhorter also had a very strong individual showing with a first place finish in the 100 breaststroke (1:01.39).

Both McWhorter and Schneider helped Keller dominate the 200 relays. Sophia Corbin, McWhorter, Amber Gallimore and Schneider took first in the 200 freestyle with a 1:34.09 mark. In the 200 medley, Lila Dowell, McWhorter, Corbin, and Schneider continued to win with a 1:41.72 mark.

Another team that had a strong showing was Southlake Carroll.

The Dragons ended up with 125 points, which earned them a fourth place finish. It was five points away from San Antonio Reagan, the third place finisher.

Carroll’s Olivia Colombo finished second in the 100 backstroke (54.52), and the Dragons also took third in the 400 freestyle relay (3:26.99). Carroll’s strongest performance came from Bella Sanouvong, who finished first in 1M diving with 465.60 points.

Another top performance was from Mansfield’s Avery McGuinness, who came in first in the 200 freestyle with a 1:48.13 mark.

Class 5A boys: Paschal, Colleyville Heritage thrive

No Fort Worth-area schools made the overall Class 5A boys team top 10, although there were a few standout performances.

Fort Worth Paschal’s Harrison Purcell placed second in the 100 breaststroke with a 56.36 mark. His teammate, Jackson Beck, took third in the 100 freestyle (45.69).

Colleyville Heritage’s Aiden Tokarski won the 200 freestyle (1:37.59) while Beck had another strong showing, taking third (1:39.93).

Tokarski also won the 500 freestyle (4:26.66) cementing what is arguably one of the best performances from a Fort Worth-area swimmer.

Mansfield Timberview’s Daniel Henry took first in the 1M diving (533.00).

Class 5A girls: Birdville, Saginaw boast podium finishes

There were individual standouts in Class 5A girls swimming, although similarly to the Class 5A boys, no girls teams made the top 10.

Birdville’s Lila McCutchen took third in the 100 backstroke (55.22), and teammate Reaghan Neisius earned bronze in the 1M diving (426.10).

Another top performance was from Saginaw’s Sophianne Cortest, who finished second in the 100 butterfly (55.14).

Class 4A: Decatur leads Fort Worth-area

Decatur led the way in the girls Class 4A standings with 114 points and an eighth place finish. The Eagles had a very well rounded group but didn’t crack the top three in any individual events.

One key performance came from Grandview’s Kariayn Mann, who took third in the 500 freestyle (5:18.25).

The sole Fort Worth-area top three finisher on the boys side of things was Godley’s Ryan McFarland, who finished third in the 100 backstroke (55.02).
