The UIL state swimming and diving meet commences Thursday in Austin at the University of Texas’ Lee & Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center.

Check out the Fort Worth area’s qualifiers, along with top storylines and athletes to watch:

Southlake Carroll, Keller look to contend amid changes

Last season, the Keller swim and dive program made a statement, winning its third consecutive boys team state title and its first girls title. The Indians became the third school in the UIL’s history to sweep the team awards.

As the 2026 state meet nears, the Southlake Carroll boys are in a solid position to reclaim the throne for the first time since 2022.

They won the regional meet with 447 points to Keller’s 291. The margin suggests Carroll is the top contender in Region 1, although the Dragons will face more competition from across Texas.

On the girls’ side, Keller is still in front of the pack with a narrow 433-431 regional victory over Carroll.

Both Carroll and Keller have gone through significant changes over the past year.

Carroll swim coach Kevin Murphy used to oversee the entire Dragon swim program. He won 10 state titles with the boys, including nine consecutive from 2011 to 2019, and the Carroll girls won five team titles in a decade.

Now, Murphy coaches the boys while Justin Pudwill oversees the girls.

Keller also made a drastic switch, with former head coach Jamie Shults resigning following an investigation into UIL rule violations that ended with a public reprimand from the District 4-6A executive committee.

Former Keller Central coach Jason Lovell is now the coach at Keller.

Paschal leads Fort Worth area in Class 5A

Colleyville Heritage, Grapevine, Timberview and more all have multiple qualifiers in Class 5A. Fort Worth Paschal leads Fort Worth-area schools with 10 5A qualifiers.

Top performers to watch

  • Keller girls 200-yard medley relay: 1:42.33 mark was best in all UIL regionals
  • Jack Ma, Southlake Carroll, boys 1-meter diving: 524.25 mark was the best in UIL regionals. He is looking to get back on the podium following a second-place finish in 2025.
  • Ella McWhorter, Keller, girls 100-yard breaststroke: 1:01.68 mark leads all UIL regional performances. She is looking to defend her state title.
  • Aiden Tokarski, Colleyville Heritage, boys 200-yard freestyle: 1:37.09 mark leads all UIL regional performances. In 2025, he placed third at state. He is also a strong contender in the 500-yard freestyle.
  • Daniel Henry, Mansfield Timberview, boys 1-meter dive: His 512 points lead all divers at regionals. He is aiming to defend his state title.
