BOYS

Mansfield routs Boswell to keep pace in 3-6A

Mansfield, No. 17 in the latest Texas Association of Basketball Coaches Class 6A state poll, outscored Fort Worth Boswell by 33 points in the first and third quarters as the Tigers rolled to an 84-48 win over the Pioneers on Thursday.

Mansfield (21-5 overall, 6-1 district) had four players score in double figures led by Judah Charles with 18 points. Caden Shaver contributed 17 points with Chase Jackson and K.T. Turner adding 14 and 11 points respectively for the Tigers.

Mansfield jumped out to a 21-9 lead after one quarter and outscored Boswell 29-8 in the third period. Adrian Ruiz Alonso led Boswell (5-20, 1-6) with 17 points with Seth Allen chipping in 12 points for the Pioneers.

Colleyville Heritage dumps Argyle in 2 OTs

Colleyville Heritage got a hugh lay in by Sameer Johnson at the fourth quarter buzzer, off an assist by Dmauri Evans, to tie the game at 48 allowing the Panthers to subdue Argyle 57-51 in double overtime on Thursday.

The game was important as Colleyville Heritage (20-7 overall, 4-3 District 6-5A) keep a solid position for a playoff berth. Argyle is still in the race, but dropped to 2-5 in district and 14-10 overall.

GIRLS

No. 21 Cleburne keeps rolling, thumps Centennial

Cleburne, No. 21 in the state in Class 5A according to the TABC, got 29 points from Lily Sheppard as the Yellow Jackets improved to 10-0 in District 8-5A and 21-8 overall with a 58-36 win over Burleson Centennial on Thursday night.

Cleburne broke open a close game at the half by outscoring the Spartans 34-14 after the break to pull away.

Centennial dropped to 17-13 and 6-4 in district, but remains in the playoff picture in fourth place. Izzy Guadamuz added 10 points for Cleburne with Lyric Caldwell pacing the Spartans with 15 points.

Paschal keeps lock on 7-5A with win over Arlington Heights

Fort Worth Paschal completed a sweep of Fort Worth Arlington Heights with a 48-31 win on Thursday to improve to 9-0 in District 7-5 and 16-13 overall.

The Panthers were led by Bella Zoll who poured in 19 points. Zaria Littles added 9 points and Victoria Hultgren had 8 for Paschal.

Arlington Heights (8-15 overall, 6-2 district) remained in second place with the loss. The Yellowjackets were led by Ni’ja Washington with 15 points.

Saginaw handles Azle in 5-5A

Saginaw kept pace for a playoff berth in District 5-5A with a 55-30 win over Azle on Thursday night.

Saginaw (15-12 overall, 6-2 district) was led by Brooklyn Monroe who tossed in a game-high 23 points. Shaniah Franklin added 15 points and Anabelle Aguilera had 9 for the Rough Riders.

Azle (8-21, 1-8) was led by Keagan Stuart with 12 points.
