Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice, a former Richland High and SMU standout, has been accused of domestic violence by his former girlfriend, who is the mother to two of his children.

Dacoda Jones made an Instagram post accusing Rice of wrongdoing while showing several pictures of bruises over her body.

Jones stated the abuse has gone on for years and that Rice physically assaulted her while pregnant, while also destroying her clothes and property and not being an attentive father to their children.

Jones also said Rice is trying to kick her and her children out of their home and said she would no longer be silent to protect his image.

The Chiefs told the Kansas City Star that they are aware of the incident.

“The club is aware of the allegations on social media and is in communication with the National Football League,” the statement reads. “We have no further comment at this time.”

NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy also said the league was looking into the matter.

“We have been in contact with the club about the matter which will be reviewed under the league’s personal conduct policy,” McCarthy said in a statement.

This is not Rice’s first troubling incident. The 25-year-old pleaded guilty to two third-degree felony charges in a deal related to a 2024 car crash on the North Central Expressway. He was also required to spend 30 days in jail, receive five years of deferred probation and pay restitution to those affected totaling $115,481.91.

Dallas County Criminal District Attorney John Creuzot, with whom the plea deal was made, said he hoped the wide receiver would mature and stay out of trouble following the incident.

Rice has yet to make a statement about his former girlfriend’s accusations.

After graduating from Richland, Rice played four seasons at SMU from 2019-22, amassing 233 receptions for 3,111 yards and 25 touchdowns.

The Chiefs took Rice in the second round of the 2023 draft and won the Super Bowl that season. He has 156 catches for 1,797 yards and 14 touchdowns in three seasons.

Rice was suspended for the first six games of this season over the car crash plea deal.
