All Saints advances to another TAPPS state championship, on verge of history
Fort Worth All Saints defeated Austin Regents 49-35 on Friday to advance to a second straight TAPPS Division II state championship game.
Head coach Aaron Beck and the Saints (13-0) will aim for a championship repeat, and also consecutive perfect seasons, at 6 p.m. Friday against Houston Second Baptist (7-6) at Waco ISD Stadium.
“It’s been a great ride,” Beck said. “We’re so excited. The kids are excited. The coaches are excited. I’m proud of everybody. It’s been an outstanding year.”
Beck said that the team has been fortunate to dodge the injury bug, for the most part. Senior Caleb Clark is out with an injury, but other than that, the team is healthy, which is a rarity this late in the season.
All Saints is aiming for its second TAPPS state title. The program has won seven SPC championships — the Saints moved to TAPPS in 2017.
“I want us to be as locked and loaded for this last game as we were for the Regents game,” Beck said. “It’s so fun practicing over Thanksgiving because you get the kids’ undivided attention. School is back in Monday. ... They’ve been really focused all year. It’s been terrific. We just want to maintain that through this last week.”
