Grapevine High’s Jorvorskie Lane Jr., baseball prodigy, commits to Arkansas
Grapevine baseball prodigy Jorvorskie Lane Jr. announced his commitment to Arkansas on Wednesday via social media.
Lane, an elite national class of 2026 recruit and potential MLB draft target, is the son of former Texas A&M football star Jorvorskie Lane, who rushed for 2,193 yards and 49 touchdowns in four years with the Aggies.
Lane was originally committed to Texas A&M but decommitted in August 2024. He’ll instead take his talents to Arkansas, a program that has reached the College World Series 12 times, with the most recent appearance in 2025.
“The journey continues in Fayetteville,” Lane wrote on Instagram.
Lane transferred to Grapevine High School in August after three years with Fort Worth O.D. Wyatt. He made history with the Chaparrals, leading them to end a 52-year playoff drought. He hit .588 with 57 RBIs along with 61 stolen bases, solidifying his status as one of the premier prep leadoff hitters in the nation.
At Grapevine, Lane can make even more history. In 2025, the Mustangs became the first team to win back-to-back titles in the UIL’s second-largest classification since 1992. Now, head coach Jimmy Webster and company have an opportunity to cement a historic dynasty with a third consecutive title.
Lane will join Luke Esquivel, the 2025 Star-Telegram Player of the Year, who recently reclassified from the Class of 2028 to the Class of 2027. Esquivel, an LSU commit, is also an elite national recruit with MLB draft potential.
