Playing at home for only the second time this year, All Saints Episcopal broke an early tie and rolled to a 49-15 victory Friday night against Grapevine Faith Christian at McNair Stadium.

The Saints scored 42 unanswered points to roll to their 20th straight victory dating back to last season’s TAPPS Division II state championship.

The last time All Saints played was on Sept. 26 during a road trip to Seattle, Washington. The program defeated Evergreen, and after the bye week last week, All Saints opened district play tied 7-7 early against the Lions.

The Saints (6-0) didn’t give up an offensive touchdown until the final minute of the game, with a rolling clock and the backups in. The other points for Grapevine Faith (4-1) came on a 90-yard kickoff return by Jacob Montes in the first quarter.

After that score, the Saints dominated on both sides of the ball.

The offense scored the next six possessions, aided by the defense getting turnovers.

“We’re down two key defensive players, but we got one back tonight in Patton French, who sat out in the Seattle game,” All Saints coach Aaron Beck said. “I’m proud of our defense missing two key starters in the front and some guys that came in and played well.”

Missing are defensive ends Hudson Harbuck and Ryan Powers, but the defense created turnovers with interceptions and fumble recoveries. Nolan Luffey had one of each and both times the Saints scored on the following possession.

His interception set up Bourke Toler’s 4-yard run early in the first quarter. His fumble recovery late in the second quarter turned into points twice.

All Saints’ Keyon Adkins ran back two punts for touchdowns for the Saints. The first was called back in the first half, but his 68-yard score in the third was the final points in the game.

Aledo transfer and Georgetown pledge Gavin Beard threw a touchdown pass on the first play after the turnover, but a holding call negated it. Two plays later, Toler scored on another touchdown.

Beard threw a pair of touchdowns to Hudson Reasor — 25 and 15 yards — and also added a 27-yard scoring run.

“I’d say we have one of the best offenses in TAPPS,” Reasor said. “We are up there. We have weapons across the field.”

The addition of Beard, or rather the return, has boosted the Saints’ offense.

He threw for 2,629 and 38 touchdowns last year for Aledo before returning to All Saints, where he went from kindergarten through middle school. He said he and Reasor have been best friends since fourth grade.

“It’s kind of been a homecoming,” said Beard, who replaced Texas State’s Gavin Parkhurst as QB1. “To come back here and ball out with them one last year … it’s like a movie, honestly.”

His last touchdown to Reasor came after a lucky break and the Saints capitalized.

Going for a 33-yard field goal, the Saints missed it. However, Grapevine Faith was called for not having the end rusher in a 3-point technique stance.

The missed 3 points turned into a first down at the 15-yard line.

The next play, Reasor hauled in a touchdown in the back of the end zone.

“When something like that happens, we’re ready to pick it up and get rolling when we get breaks,” Beard said.
