Denton High School football player Tro’Mario Allen Jr. died earlier this week, Denton ISD confirmed to the Star-Telegram.

No details about his death were available.

The district sent the following statement:

“It is with profound sadness that Denton ISD shares the passing of a Denton High School student earlier this week. Out of respect for the family’s privacy, no further details will be released.

“The loss of a student is heartbreaking for a school community, and support has been made available for both students and staff. Counseling professionals have been on campus to provide comfort and guidance for students whose parents have given consent.

“We ask that the community keep the student’s loved ones, friends, and the Bronco family in their thoughts during this very difficult time.”

According to MaxPreps, Allen finished his junior season with 40 tackles. Following the announcement, teammates and members of the Denton and Texas high school football communities expressed their grief and shared tributes on social media.

“I still can’t believe it,” Denton assistant coach David Guajardo posted on X. “Thank you for letting me coach you. Love you kid.”
