North Crowley quarterback, Burleson Centennial transfer, ineligible to play
Junior quarterback Jacob Torres is ineligible to play in the upcoming high school football season, North Crowley head coach Ray Gates told the Star-Telegram.
Torres, a transfer from Burleson Centennial, passed for over 2,000 yards, rushed for 200 and had 23 touchdowns as a sophomore en route to District 7-5A Division I Co-Offensive Player of the Year honors. Torres attended North Crowley as a freshman.
He told the Dallas Morning News in July he moved back to the area after his house was struck by lightning.
“Delayed but not denied,” Torres wrote on X at the time.
Torres is still practicing with North Crowley and is putting in work outside of school-organized activities. He posted a video on X of him working out with Sothlake Carroll receiver Brock Boyd, the Star-Telegram’s No. 1 player to watch. He has also practiced with Foster Sawyer, the AP Ranch football director and a QB specialist.
Torres played for North Crowley in the Texas A&M and SMU 7-on-7 tournaments.
The Panthers are having a “three-headed race” for the starting quarterback spot between senior DeMarcus Harris, senior CJ Alexander and three-star junior Hayes Cloutier, a transfer from Inglewood, California.
The Panthers are replacing Chris Jimerson Jr., who is now at North Texas. He passed for 3,769 yards and 58 touchdowns to lead the Panthers to a historic Class 6A Division II state championship.
On top of the QB transfers, the Panthers have also added four-star receiver Damarion Mays, who was at Dallas Life Oak Cliff last season, and four-star junior cornerback Jerry Outhouse Jr., who was at Brewer.
